Has America's reaction to Wikileaks, done them more harm than the leaks themselves?

The Government have looked like they have lots to hide, and a large section of the country have looked like mindless zombies parroting the Government line. In my opinion, the wikileaks have harmed the reputation of the US, little else, and up to now they have not put any lives at risk, what ever the US gov. claim.
