My credit is tanking. If my son was added as an addl signer on a couple of cards, will his credit be hurt?

When I added my son, my credit was stellar. He used a couple of the cards when he was in Europe and when he got home, they were cut up. He still uses my gas card. What do I do to make sure his credit isn't hurt because of my financial condition?
